hmmm.

i talked to a bunch of my best and good friends from home today on msn.
it was very very nice.
i miss people a lot, but thats not going to stop me from having fun.

its supposed to get a bit cooler tomorrow (34) hallelujah, i can actually step outside without my whole body turning into a puddle on the ground.

my new favourite show is "so you think you can dance." i love it so so much.

things are good in our household.
we're planning on going to Bali in about one month. i'll give details when we know 'em.

this is random.
but thanks for the comments on the last post. i really love them.

free food, i'm there.

yesterday i went to the salvation army church, in floreat. it was a walk down the road and it ended up being quite pleasant. i was greeted by the pastor as soon as i stepped in the church and he introduced me to a girl named, laura, who he told me to sit with. she was very kind. we sat also with a guy named joel, and i met a few other people my age, as well. i think i'll go back next week and see how i like it. the worship is different than my church from home. but the people are nice. and the message was how we shouldnt just be a building, but a church. a safe place for people to come. for new people to come. spread the love. was the jist of the message. after the service joel and i got free donuts (like a 12 pack) from 'donut king.' - they donate their old donuts to the church...i ate about 3 for lunch...ick. not too bad. joel then drove me home and i sat around for the afternoon and made, pierre. (he appears to the right)
i went for a walk down to the beach and saw an amazing sunset and i just soaked it all up. it was grand.

today was my first day of work. it was fun. the girls i work with are nice and my boss' too. i made sandwiches. and i cleaned. and i got to make myself a sandwich for lunch and before i left i indulged in 2 "flat whites" (which are there, coffees...or lattes.) yum! THEN, best part of my day...it was slow today b/c it was the first day they were open after the holidays...so there was a bunch of bread and muffins left over...we all get to take home bread if we want...or else they'll just throw it out...and me, i was ALL over that plan. i ended up bringing home a big baguette thing (but more round...some italian bread i think) and 1 1/2 loaves of bread, and 2 raspberry white chocolate muffins! wooooooie. it was fab.

anywho. today is fprbm...and i only brought 4 AUD to the supa and the one that i usually get for 1.70 was sold out..and all the other ones were over 2 bucks..(i had to buy one for julie too) so i bought a "choco energy boost"...i'm nervous about it...but it was cheaper...i havent drunk choco milk in a 'supa' long time.

ok...goodnight.

lazy days...

these last few days have been my last few days of unemployment. i have enjoyed the relaxed pace of this week. and this week went by fast, which i was praying for, b/c i didnt want to just be sitting around looking at the clock.

monkeys are funny animals...its great to watch them and to think that they are super similar to humans and to picture humans doing the things that they do. its creepy, also, if you think of it like that. (i was watching a monkey diary thing on the tube)

i made dinner tonight. allllll by myself.
i kinda just realized by looking at the picture that it looks like mush. but whatever!
it was a lovely hashbrown-mush-casserole. (and i made it!)

umm so i start work on monday. and i'm sooo soo excited about it. 7am i have to be there..and it takes me approximately 17 minutes to walk there...so i will be leaving at 640am...and for people at home, you can be thinking of me at about 5pm on sunday, b/c thats when i'll be starting work, your time!

well, we're watching friends! and i'm distracted...sooo...catch ya'll lata!

ps comment on my blog if you would like to (b/c i'd like you to) by pressing the blue link that says "0 comments."
THANKS! (oh and you dont have to be a member, thats the beauty of it.)

i send my love...

we're going to make soup for dinner

last night we walked 4 m iles down to the beach and it was lovely! we thought we could catch a bus down there, but as we were walking, no bus passed us, so we walked, which made us late for the comet...but we saw it over some trees, bright with the tail and everything...but when we actually got down to the beach and didnt have any obstructions in our way to see the sky...it had disappeared, but we were still left with God's beautiful sky with venus shining bright and the ocean at our feet...so we dropped our clothes, and went for a late night swim! it was a great night. it was probably the most fun i have had here so far. mmmm.

then we had to walk home all wet...but that didnt stop chris from stopping to drop his clothes again and run thru some city sprinklers for a good 2 minutes while i was trying to get a decent picture.
(ps- when i say drop our clothes, we were wearing our swimmers...no worries.)

all was grand.

my boss called me last night and talked over the job with me and it seems like its going to be so fun and i will be starting monday at 7am. she asked me if i knew how to make coffee and i told her i used to work at starbucks and she got extremely excited. (there are no starbucks within all of western australia...all i have to say is that my work better have some good espresso.)

i have 2 sorts of silly 'committments' while i'm down here...the first is well on its way...julie and i are going to watch the entire series of FRIENDS during our time in perth...(we're already on the last disc of season 2) and the second one i just began today...i'm listening to every single song IN ORDER on my ipod...i began with a long session of 'nsync...and now i'm at new found glory. this one will take a long time. this is how i amuse myself ... you'd think i'd find something better since i am in australia and its amazing...but thats all i came up with.
oh and of course there is fprbm which will live on my entire life. ohhhh the goodness.

the perfect day

it was today...if i could have the weather anything i wanted for the rest of my life., i'd choose the day today - it was 25 degrees...no clouds in the sky (although sometimes i love clouds...but it was super clear today), there was a slight breeze...but it meshed perfectly with the temperature. mmm.
we are probably going to the beach tonight to see "comet McNaught"...it should be pretty neat.

no internet at house yet...there are some difficulties...i'll try something with pictures soon at the library here... (ack!)

i walked for a long time yesterday and went through "kings park" and it was nice and a bird hopped onto my leg...i got scared and yelped and then it hopped off, nonchalantly-it was a great day.

i just finished reading 2 corinthians this morning and man, that book keeps giving me more and more hope (the Bible, that is..) Paul at the end chapters is boasting about his weaknesses and he says that this is fine by him b/c with him showing his weakness, it only makes God's power more recognized. that is sweet. i am indulging in scripture more and more these days and it always leaves me with an uplifted spirit. God is good, my friends.

i called my boss today and she called me "love" and she sounds so sweet. i'm excited to start work (january 22). shes calling me back tonight so we can have a little "chit-chat."

ok. library's closing!
go in peace.

home sweet home.

WELL my mood has changed from my previous blog...

i am in a place here where i have never been before, and instead of missing what i have at home, i will take advantage of this time i have here and..for the most part...'home' will be the same when i return...lets just say, I'm so glad i have Jesus to lean on when i feel like i have no one else.

we live in such a cool place here. i say 'cool,' lightly...in a "neato" kind of way..and less of a "temperature" way...it is a hot one here in western australia...yesterday we made our first trip to the INDIAN OCEAN...ow ow its a beaut! [this comp that i am on in the "cambridge public library" is not allowing me to access the pictures that i have on julie's jump drive...(ack!)] but yes, that place was wonderful and despite me putting on sunscreen and us only being there for about 2 hours....i am BURNT. in the oven way too long...my sleep last night was rather painful. my stomach is a lovely pink colour, as is my knees, shoulders-down to my wrists...and the tops of my feet...and a few of my toes too.

the address i have here is
jill friesen
c/o goworkabout
po box 606
claremont, WA
6910

phone: 011 61 435 028 684

i'm excited for the next couple weeks...i believe i begin working in about a week and a half...so in the time i have before that i get to familiarize myself with the city and enjoy the heat and go to bed at 7pm and wake up at 630am. (i dont know if i'm still jet lagged or if i'm exhausted from the heat...but i'm definately getting my hours of sleep in.)

anyways i hope everything is safe at home wherever 'home' is for you folks.
take care.

we made it...

i am currently in "sicilian subiaco"...alone...

to be honest...as soon as i got into our flat, i immediately started to want to go home. i know this will go away and when i get busy with my job and such, i'll be fine. but i really am sad. keep me in mind please...i just need some uplifting thoughts and such...i will be off to read my bible soon and see what God has to tell me.

its a lovely place here in Perth, though. we were in hong kong yesterday...we completely missed thursday..as in it did not exist for us b/c of the awkward flight that cancelled it out. hong kong was neat. we walked around allllll day and it was tiring and cool (i havent hooked up my pics to the comp yet...but i'll send em through as soon as i do).

the weather is incredible here...its a nice little suburb we live in.

ghostbusters is on tonight and we are making it a movie night (it starts at 630...and i will be asleep soon after). it feels like 8pm already and its only like..uh..i dont even know...like 3pm...GOSH I"M TIRED.

we just ordered coffee here and the guy brought us espresso and it has had no effect on me...apparently coffee here is called "flat white"...ya...weeeeeeeird.

i want to talk to someone from home. i think its impossible though. this is a really depressing blog...i'm sorry.

k - bye lovelies.

travel tip #1

Check the baggage requirements before you begin packing 2 suitcases that weigh 45 pounds each and 2 carry ons that weigh a total of 30 pounds.

My baggage limit was 44 pounds of checked baggage (uh oh) and only one carry on item of 25 pounds.

I had a good time after that...

if you could only imagine...
we;re off to the airport...i got my luggage down to one bag - 44 pounds and one carry on of 22 pounds. <insert round of applause here, please>

check y'all lata.
